Cooperative Care Training for Your Dog’s Grooming, Vet Care, and Body Handling Needs

Does your dog dislike, hate, loathe, or struggle with being groomed and going to the vet?

You are not alone! This is incredibly common, so common in fact all of the dogs we work with have some degree of discomfort around care tasks like nail trims, vaccines, blood draws, baths, and more.

As your dog’s trainers…

We will teach you how to turn grooming and vet visits into a less stressful experience.

We’ll help you understand how to build choice and consent into your dog’s care tasks.

We will guide you through how to advocate for your dog during their vet vists and care tasks.

You'll feel empowered to handle dog issues

“Without the need to yell, pull, punish, force or any other harsh behavior that's both non-effective and just makes everyone feel awful. You start to understand why your dog is doing what they are doing and makes it so much easier to handle what's thrown your way.”

-Bonnie E.

Emily and Logan have such a good eye for things!

“They notice small details that can be impossible to see when you’re the one working with your dog - you’re just too physically close. In the cooperative care class I took, Em and Logan noticed small signs of hesitation, suggested minor but effective changes, and helped us make huge progress. My goal coming in was that I would be able to touch one dewclaw with my finger. With their support, I was able to accomplish that early on in class and to actually introduce the nail clippers!

They gave feedback and guidance in such a kind and patient way. I am not the easiest student but they persisted in suggestions I sometimes resisted, like putting my cats in another room, and my dog and I benefited every time they did. When my dog opted out of training at one point, my cat opted in and they pivoted beautifully to support our nail trimming journey.”

Having two trainers instead of just one was incredibly valuable

“Both Em and Log have so much experience, separately and together, with cooperative care. Both of them were able to support me in unique ways with teaching a good start button for my individual dog, recognizing her opt outs, and adjusting criteria. With Em and Log's training support, and help with making it all so much more bite sized, Lu's nails are currently maintained by dremeling one to two nails per day! Thanks, Emily and Logan, for all your support with the dremel!”
